The National Association for Home Care & Hospice (NAHC) will showcase the power of nurses this fall by leading the search for two of the most outstanding nurses in the United States – one each from the home care and hospice communities.
“No group is more deserving of our respect and admiration. It’s time for the public to honor nurses and thank them for all they do,” said NAHC President Val J. Halamandaris.
November is Home Care & Hospice Month, a time when we honor nurses who have changed their patients’ lives. You can help by taking part in NAHC’s Nurse Recognition Program and submitting your choices for the top nurses of 2017.
Love is the essence of nursing, according to Denise Schrader, Chair of the NAHC Board of Directors. “Home care and hospice nurses are known as angels for their hard work, competence, and caring. We should encourage them to continue their difficult mission. They all deserve our applause for the love they give to aged, infirm, disabled, and dying Americans. But some of them, like the members of any group, stand just a little taller because of their fierce resolve to provide care for those who are so sick they cannot leave home without assistance.”
If this describes a nurse you know, please submit your nomination by email to katherine @ nahc.org or at hhna.org, the website of the Home Health Care Nurses Association, where Schrader also serves as chairman. You can nominate any registered nurse in your state by taking a few simple steps. A preliminary application only requires a brief essay about the nurse’s relationship with a patient, the nominator’s contact information, and the patient’s first name for HIPAA compliance.
